Multidrug Resistance Pattern of Klebsiella Isolates from Clinical Samples in a Tertiary Health Facility in Southeast Nigeria by Bridget O. Amechi in Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences

Multidrug Resistance Pattern of Klebsiella Isolates from Clinical Samples in a Tertiary Health Facility in Southeast Nigeria by Bridget O. Amechi in Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences Abstract The development of multi-drug resistant (MDR)  Klebsiella  is a global public health issue with mortality rates among patients infected with MDR  Klebsiella  as high as 64.0%. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of infection and multidrug resistance pattern of  Klebsiella  isolates in Federal Medical Centre Umuahia (FMCU). We examined the MDR pattern of  Klebsiella  isolates, and explored the association between  Klebsiella  spp and clinical specimen in FMCU. Eighty-four (84) isolates were obtained from 2,510 clinical specimens between January 2022 and June 2022 in FMCU and identified using standard microbiological procedure and biochemical panel tests. Isolates were subjected to antimicrobial ac...

Effect of conditioning activities of upper and lower limbs on the performance of the throttle drop by Jefferson de Souza Epifanio in Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences

Effect of conditioning activities of upper and lower limbs on the performance of the throttle drop by Jefferson de Souza Epifanio in Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences Abstract Introduction : Post-activation potentiation (PPA) is a physiological phenomenon capable of increasing muscle performance during high-intensity physical exercises. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the central and local mechanisms of potentialization of physical performance through conditioning activities of upper and lower limbs, seeking in this way to know which mechanism of potentialization of physical performance brings more significant results and if the flexion exercises of arm and jumps against movements presents significant values to trigger potentiation. Methodology : The sample consisted of 20 volunteers, 13 male volunteers and 7 female volunteers, practitioners of physical activities for a minimum period of 6 months, aged between 18 and 35 years,...

Low-dose Methotrexate in the treatment of knee Osteoarthritis. Case report by Ergys Ramosaço in Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences Abstract Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative disease, that affects all joints, but the knee joint is most often affected. Pain is the most disturbing sign for patients that forces them to seek medical care. There are in place many treatment strategies for knee osteoarthritis. The knee osteoarthritis treatment plan should be personalized for each patient. We present a patient, who has been diagnosed with knee OA. We use low-dose methotrexate in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis. After six months, the patient has an improvement in pain with 4 points (from 10 to 6). This case demonstrated that the use of methotrexate in knee osteoarthritis provided a clinically relevant reduction in knee pain and improvement in physical function Keywords:  Osteoarthritis, pain, treatment, methotrexate Introduction Osteoarthri...

Genetic basis to an extraordinary response to Vinorelbine chemotherapy in metastatic triple negative breast cancer by Dr Lawrence Panasci in Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences

Genetic basis to an extraordinary response to Vinorelbine chemotherapy in metastatic triple negative breast cancer by Dr Lawrence Panasci in Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences Case report Patients with metastatic triple negative breast cancer have a short median survival (17 months) (1). In these patients, first line chemotherapy results in less than 5% complete remissions while second or third line chemotherapy almost never results in sustained complete remission. Two important classes of anticancer drugs utilized to treat metastatic breast cancer are: (a) vinca alkaloids such as vinorelbine and (b) taxanes such as paclitaxel (2). While these agents are effective, resistance develops quickly and patients with triple negative metastatic breast cancer have a median survival of less than 24 months after starting chemotherapy (1). The mechanism of action of the vinca alkaloids involves binding to tubulin heterodimers eventually causing dissolution ...
